IsDB Holds Annual Meeting in Tunis, Offers Platform for Decision Makers to Discuss Challenges

The Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB Group) announced holding its 43rd annual meeting to discuss development issues and institutional matters in Tunisia. The meeting will be attracting over 1,000 participants and offers an ideal platform for decision makers to discuss challenges and explore opportunities facing IsDB Group member countries. Sessions will tackle issues on partnerships for sustainable development to stimulate the development of human capital, innovation and digital transformation. Representatives from member states and delegations, as well as a number of representatives of the private sector and civil society will participate. The annual conference will focus on development and institutional issues which interest to IsDB member countries. A group of donors was also invited to participate as observers. The conference will focus on financing and development-- a number of workshops and forums will be held with senior representatives from countries, governments, the private sector and civil society, as well as academics and experts, encouraging discussion, stimulating participation, exchanging information and collaborating among partners found in member States. The IsDB participates in equity capital and grants loans for productive projects and enterprises besides providing financial assistance to member countries in other forms for economic and social development. The Bank is also required to establish and operate special funds for specific purposes including a fund for assistance to Muslim communities in non-member countries, in addition to setting up trust funds. The three-day side events program provides a vibrant platform to discuss economic, finance and development issues of current interest to IsDB Group stakeholders. The side events aim to encourage discussion and debate, promote partnership, cooperation and knowledge sharing. These events are open to all registered participants. More so, the IsDB Group encompasses five entities: the Islamic Development Bank, the Islamic Research and Training Institute, the Islamic Institution for Investment Insurance and Export Credit and the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation. Through its activities, the IsDB seeks to promote inclusive human development, particularly in the fields of poverty reduction, health promotion, education, improved governance and prosperity for peoples.
