The Makkah-based Al-Nadwa said sending George Mitchell to the Middle East reflects the keenness of the new US administration on activating the peace process in the region. The paper said Mitchell, who had earlier attained success in reaching a peace agreement in Ireland, will face in the Middle East numerous problems, notably the Israeli intransigence and procrastination.
