Moscow, March 9, SPA -- Russia's top diplomat criticized efforts tobring Iran and its disputed nuclear program before the U.N.Security Council, suggesting that the United States was tooeager to take the issue out of the hands of the worldbody's nuclear watchdog. In an interview broadcast Thursday on Russian statetelevision, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called Iran'sreferral to the Security Council an attempt to portray theInternational Atomic Energy Agency as unable to influenceTehran. "This move is detrimental, and not one real problem canbe decided with such a move," he said. "We don't want to be the ones to remind (everyone) whowas right and who was not in Iraq, although the answer isobvious," he said.
