Regarding solving the humanitarian crisis in Yemen and the possibility of discussing the subject with the Houthi militias, Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir confirmed that there is no contacts with these militias because they attack us and attack innocent people in Yemen, pointing out that the humanitarian issue was discussed some time ago, stressing the readiness of the Kingdom to provide humanitarian assistance to Yemen. We started to send them by air, but it was apparent that this is not enough, he said, adding that "we must think of more work and double the effort in this regard, therefore, there must be a ceasefire for sporadic periods in accordance with what we announced two days ago". He pointed out that there are some challenges in Yemen, making it difficult to smoothly deliver aid and conduct humanitarian operations process. So, we took the decision of stopping fighting in all parts of Yemen, whereas the actual date to start this move will be announced soon, he said, adding that this measure requires certain requirements, including the Houthis commitment to stop fighting on the ground in all regions and governorates of Yemen. He expressed hope that everyone in Yemen pays attention to the interests of the Yemeni people, and allow the delivery of humanitarian aid, including that the Houthi militia must announce readiness to stop aggression, as we will see whether they are going to abide by it or agree on such a proposal. However, it looks that they focus on their rebellion process against the legitimate authority and do not care about the interests of Yemen and its people, Al-Jubeir said. Regarding the Iranian role in the Yemeni crisis, Al-Jubeir said that the Iranian role was negative up to now as they continue providing support for the Houthis financially, militarily and ideologically. He cited some Iranian attempts to smuggle arms into Yemen, and the coalition forces success to prevent their aircraft and vessels to reach Yemeni territories. He noted that Iran cannot play an effective role in Yemen, calling on the militia to announce commitment to observe a ceasefire. --More 23:46 LOCAL TIME 20:46 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
