The UAE and Jordan stressed the importance of enhancing joint Arab efforts to confront challenges and threats, enhance security and stability in the region, and consolidate peace, tolerance, civilized dialogue and co-existence. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces received Jordan’s King Abdullah II on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi, where talks focused on developments related to the Palestinian issue and the importance of preserving the legal and historical status of Jerusalem. The two leaders emphasized the need to maintain coordination and consultation on latest developments, especially the fight against terrorism and extremism, within the framework of joint Arab action with the aim to bolster security and stability of the countries and peoples of the region. Discussions also touched on various fields of cooperation including the political, economic and developmental aspects, as well as issues of common interest. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan highlighted the strong ties with Jordan, and the two countries’ joint efforts to counter terrorism, violence, extremism and foreign interference in the affairs of Arab states. The Jordanian monarch, for his part, expressed his pleasure to visit Abu Dhabi to promote brotherly relations between the two countries, praising the UAE’s positions in promoting joint Arab action and cooperation for the sake of the region and its peoples under the leadership of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Also on Wednesday, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received the Jordanian King, in the presence of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. Sheikh Mohammed and King Abdullah discussed a number of issues and the situation in Jerusalem.
