The Abha-based Al-Watan praised the announcement of Washington to change its war strategy towards Afghanistan and said "it constitutes the proper direction even if it has come late". The daily noted that this development coincides with the new trend of Kabul government towards Taliban and its readiness to conduct dialogue with it, adding that Kabul and Washington have become aware of the importance of changing their policy in Afghanistan taking into account the increasing numbers of victims in the country. The international conference on Afghanistan due to be held later this month in Hague should take into account that this Muslim country is steadily and swiftly falling down into a hell, the paper said, adding that Taliban and the armed militias were capable of enhancing their operations and mixing their cards. The confession of the new US administration with the failure of the strategy adopted by former President George W. Bush should form the cornerstone for tackling the Afghan problem in its right perspective.--SPA www.spa.gov.sa/644064
